"Pfizer" and "Moderna" announced the success of the laboratory tests they conducted on the "Omicron" variant, stressing that the 2 doses of their vaccines against the "Covid-19" virus showed effectiveness against the new mutant, and recommended to receive the third dose.

Pfizer BioNTech stated that the trials showed a decrease in neutralizing antibodies, confirming that the 3rd (booster) dose increased the antibodies in the body by 25%.

- The report stated that a blood sample from people who received the third booster dose of the “Pfizer” vaccine, a month ago, contributed to neutralizing the “Omicron” variable with the same effectiveness as two doses of the vaccine showed against other variants. 

- "Ensuring as many people as possible are fully vaccinated with at least two doses of the vaccine, and the third booster dose is the best course of action to prevent the spread of the Omicron mutant," said Albert Bourla, an official at Pfizer.

- However, Pfizer stated that the results were preliminary and said they would continue to collect data and "evaluate real-world effectiveness".

- Pfizer and Moderna plan to produce 4 billion doses of the corona vaccine by 2022. Pfizer added that they were developing an Omicron specific vaccine which would be ready for delivery within 100 days, pending regulatory approval.
