A Saudi woman mechanic has revealed she was inspired by her father to take up the profession after he repaired auto malfunctions.

Merihan Yehia told Saudi television Al Saudiah in an interview inside her workshop that she has always enjoyed repairing, loosening, and reassembling things. According to her, when a person loves something, it happens involuntarily.

A field in the kingdom that was once a male preserve was entered by Merihan.

Women could not work in the field of mechanics at the beginning. In those days, women were not allowed to drive cars," she recalled.

Saudi Arabia allowed women to drive for the first time in its history in 2018 as part of dramatic social and economic reforms.

Merihan says that after women were allowed to drive, many fields opened up to them, including mechanics. Over time, people became aware of my car repairs. The young woman continued, "I have made a name for myself.".

"Nothing is impossible." According to Merihan, women are capable of doing any job. Providing assistance to women or families whose cars break down on roads, she said, would make them happy and proud.
