The Jeddah Mayoralty has successfully removed commercial encroachments along Palestine Street, resulting in a smoother flow of traffic in the area. Encroachments from 19 commercial shops, occupying over 1,600 square meters, were dismantled as part of the city's initiative to clear unauthorized constructions in all neighborhoods.
Encroachments Removed for Better Accessibility
The cleared encroachments, located on the southern lane near Dr. Soliman Fakeeh Hospital, had been causing traffic congestion due to commercial structures encroaching onto the main street. Supervisory authorities noted that these shops were built without proper permits and had obstructed the designated road lanes, directly impacting the ease of movement on Palestine Street.
Jeddah Mayoralty’s Initiative Against Unauthorized Structures
The mayoralty previously issued notices to shop owners, requiring them to vacate encroached areas. Upon the deadline’s expiration, those who failed to address violations faced removal actions. This reflects the Jeddah Mayoralty’s commitment to prevent further encroachments and maintain orderly urban planning.
Continuous Efforts to Monitor and Prevent Future Encroachments
The Jeddah Mayoralty has emphasized ongoing inspection tours across neighborhoods and peripheral areas, instructing branch municipalities to maintain vigilant oversight to prevent similar issues. This proactive approach aims to enhance road accessibility and urban infrastructure across the city.
