Jail And Fine For Sharing Photos Or Videos Of Curfew Violations: Public Prosecutor
Category: Coronavirus

The Saudi public prosecutor warned that anyone who posts photos or videos of violations of the newly imposed curfew order on social media or encourages anyone else to break the curfew will face prosecution.

In a message posted on Twitter, the office explained that the offenders will be charged under Article 6 of the Information Crime Prevention Law, which imposes a penalty of up to five years in prison and a fine of up to SR 3 million. The punishment will apply to violators, but the informers will not be questioned, he added.

Meanwhile, a young Saudi woman was arrested for sharing a video of herself appearing to incite the public against a nationwide curfew, according to the Okaz newspaper.

The 21-day partial curfew, which started on Monday from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., was imposed on the orders of King Salman bin Abdul Aziz as part of the Kingdom’s stringent precautions to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
