In cooperation with the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA), the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development will impose the decision to apply insurance on domestic worker contracts.

It would come into effect in this month or April according to the local newspaper, bringing several benefits to both domestic workers and their employers.

- The ministry is in the process of finishing the procedures related to insurance for domestic worker employment contracts by linking them with insurance companies and Musaned's exclusive platform for hiring domestic workers. We will announce the decision soon.

A domestic labor contract insurance will benefit the employer in reimbursing recruitment costs in case of runaway workers or Absenteeism during the remaining contract period after the expiration of the 3 months probation period.

If the employer fails to pay the salary on time for domestic workers, they will be compensated. Beneficiaries wishing to hire domestic workers will have the option of purchasing insurance on their recruitment contracts.

Furthermore, binding the hiring of domestic help to the insurance policy will bring more advantages for the beneficiaries, since they will be able to get discounts of certain percentages of the insurance premium value upon renewal, provided the sponsor complies with the terms and conditions of the policy, such as paying the worker's wages regularly.

In accordance with Article 6 of the Regulations for Domestic Workers and those in similar positions, the domestic worker is obligated to fulfill the duties agreed upon, such as obeying orders from his sponsor and family members in accordance with the labor contract and not to refuse or stop working without valid reasons.

It is also the domestic worker's duty to keep the secrets of his employer and family members and not let them out.

The regulations also stipulate that workers must not do anything that damages the dignity of the employer or members of his family. They should not meddle in their private affairs. It is also important that they respect the religion of Islam, follow the regulations in force in Saudi Arabia, and adhere to the customs and traditions of Saudi society.
