According to the General Authority for Statistics' (GASTAT) Labor Force Survey, the unemployment rate among Saudis in the fourth quarter of 2021 was 11.0%, down 0.3 percentage points from Q3/2021, and down 1.6 percentage points from a year earlier.

Job growth was in line with increases in the participation rate, pushing the unemployment rate down by 0.7 percentage points to 5.2%.

In the fourth quarter of 2021, the unemployment rate for female youth increased by 2.4 percentage points to 25.2%.

The labor force participation rate of the total working-age population (Saudis and non-Saudis 15 years and older) increased by 0.3 percent to 61.5%, while the Saudi labor force participation rate increased to 51.5%.
