Saudi media reported that authorities in the Saudi port city of Jeddah evacuated 180 housing sites for workers for violating collective housing regulations.
According to Sabq, the evacuations were part of inspection tours undertaken by the Jeddah municipality in cooperation with several government agencies.
Evacuee numbers were not available.
In collaboration with relevant government agencies, 934 sites were inspected and sterilised during the field tours in Jeddah districts with the aim of improving compliance levels. Eng. Mohammed bin Ebrahim, an advisor to the Jeddah municipality chief, said.
In order to avoid further penalties, local authorities urged owners of violating sites to swiftly pay fines, evacuate unlicensed labour housing units and rectify their status.
