Saudi Arabia's General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat) has outlined the penalties it will impose on people who are late in renewing their residence (Iqama)

On Twitter, Jawazat got an inquiry from a resident ex-pat who asked: "I'm a little late in renewing my Iqama. What plans do you have for me? This is the third time I've forgotten to renew."

- The General Directorate of Passports received a request for information about the issuing and renewal of resident Iqama and passports.

"A fine for delaying the renewal of an Iqama is imposed 3 days after its expiry date, bearing in mind that the charge for delaying the renewal of an Iqama is 500 riyals for the first time and 1,000 riyals for the second time," Jawazat said in a tweet.
