A minor fire at Saudi Aramco’s Riyadh refinery was caused by “an operational incident”, the company said on Thursday.
According to a statement posted on Saudi Aramco’s official Twitter account, the fire was brought under control by the company’s fire protection crews and Saudi civil defence personnel.
“No personnel are injured and no impact on operations,” the tweet added.
The Saudi Aramco update comes after the Iran-backed Houthi movement in Yemen claimed it attacked the facility, with the Twitter account of its TV channel, Al-Masirah, claiming that a drone was used to target it.
Over the last several months, the Houthis have fired dozens of missiles at target throughout Saudi Arabia, including the capital of Riyadh.
