Security officials said eight people had been arrested for torching bonfires in a public park that wasn't designated.
Seven Saudis and one Egyptian were arrested for setting off the illegal bonfires in Al Soudah Park in Abha, south-west Saudi Arabia.
According to Col Abdul Rahman Al Outeibi, spokesman for the Saudi Special Forces for Environmental Security, "the legal procedures have been followed."
Setting off fires in non-designated places is punishable by a fine of up to SR3,000.
For safety reasons, Saudi authorities banned bonfires in gardens and other public places in 2019.
Outings in Saudi Arabia often involve setting off fires for cooking in public areas.
The fines against the act in non-designated public sites are part of the public conduct regulations that went into effect in September 2019.
Known as the Public Decorum Code, the regulations prohibit wearing "inappropriate" attire in public, acting immorally, and playing loud music in residential areas.
Depending on the type of violation, fines can range from 50 to 3,000 riyals.
