My Coffee had one big game that came its way and, just like that, opened a huge gap on the chasing pack after the 15th week in the the FTBJ-ICBL My Coffee Bowling League (42nd Conference) at the Sultanah Mall’s Bowling City on Tahlia Street here.
The sponsor team edged out Sky Freight-Cash Pinas 40 to 39 points to seal its second Team of the Week honors.
In delivering a clutch performance Igna Salgado’s league-leading Coffee makers effectively made it clear they are going all the way to the championship, as they hiked their lead to 43.5 points over nearest pursuer Ekis Reload, which scored 29 points in a tie for fourth and fifth places on the day with previous week honoree JP Mythics.
Mythics and Ekis were eight points adrift of Felda Middle East, which tallied 37. MSS Lane Buster carded 28 points with Jude Yoyooo on 25 pints. Dabarkads and Solid Vision, fighting to climb out of the celllar, tied on 20 points followed by Dana 18, while Daylights and Lance & 3rdy brought up the rear on 16 and 11.
Team captain Salgado led from the front to shoot 612 with Marc Clifford backing him up on 597. Marie Gumpal added 596 while Gerry Mandanas and Bassam Oraif contributed 565 and 540 in a balanced display as My Coffee hardly felt the absence of another Class O player Kemo Felimban.
Emy de Guzman’s Cash Pinas was made to rue a second game meltdown that saw them finish two notches behind My Coffee. That put them three behind overall so that even winning the third game and overall to pull two back proved not enough to pass My Coffee.
The trio of Randy Mata, James Galvan and Omar Musa led Cash Pinas with respective rounds of 670, 622 and 620 to go with the 563 by Nonie Yap and 493 by Gail Mata.
First game winner Felda produced the week’s high series scorer in Azizan Abdul Aziz who fired 636 on lines of 194, 243 and 166. Abdul Rashid made 619, Oto Sha came through with 583, Suhaime Leong had 523 and Hasnah posted 519.
Ekis, a past champion, had Faisal Relativo and Dylan Ilagan shooting the leading scores of 620 and 605 with George Mangaliman on 557 and a pair of 539s shared by Malou Relativo and Zaldy Bacero.
Myrna Soriano led Lane Busters on 586 as did Sami Al Qarni at Yoyoo with 594 and William Virgo at Solid Vision with 605.
