The spokesperson for the Forces for Legitimacy Support Coalition in Yemen, Colonel Turki al-Maliki, stated that, in light of recent developments in Socotra Island and Abyan Governorate, the coalition welcomed the response of both the Yemeni legitimate government and the Transitional Council to its request for a comprehensive ceasefire, an end to the escalation, and a meeting in Saudi Arabia to move forward in implementing The Riyadh Agreement, and the return of political and military committees and teams to implement it urgently.
He added that the coalition deplores the recent developments in a number of southern governorates in Yemen and calls on all parties to uphold the national interest of Yemen and the interests of its people, security and stability and stop the bloodshed, by adhering to the Riyadh agreement and returning conditions to normal in Socotra Island and a ceasefire in Abyan and avoiding escalation in all governorates Yemeni, including media escalation.
Colonel Al-Maliki stated that the coalition rejects any practices that harm security and stability and violate the Riyadh agreement in any of the liberated areas, stressing that the coalition always stands with Yemen and its brotherly people and continues in its efforts to unify the ranks of the Yemeni people and bridge the rift between its components and support its march to restore its state, security, stability, safety and unity His lands.
Deploying monitors in Abyan
The coalition spokesman indicated that the joint forces command will deploy monitors on the ground in Abyan to monitor the comprehensive ceasefire and the separation of forces. The coalition also calls on all Yemeni political, social and media forces and components to support the parties ’response to the meeting in Riyadh and work hard to implement the Riyadh agreement for its benefit Great for Yemen and restoring the state and its institutions to provide security and to provide services to the Yemeni people and relieve their suffering.
Yemeni welcome
For its part, the Yemeni government welcomed the Saudi-led coalition's call to stop all escalation actions in the liberated governorates by returning to implement the Riyadh agreement without delay or selection.
The legitimate government appreciated the great efforts made by Saudi Arabia to stop the escalation, restore conditions to what they were and resume the implementation of the Riyadh agreement.
Also, the Transitional Council welcomed the call of the Alliance to Support Legitimacy for a Ceasefire in the Abyan Governorate, as well as the halt to the escalation in the rest of the southern governorates.
The Council affirmed its permanent position regarding the importance of the Riyadh Agreement and the necessity of an immediate return to its implementation.
