In a major crackdown on corruption, the Saudi Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) has taken decisive action, apprehending a staggering 141 ministry employees. The arrests span various key ministries, including the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of National Guard, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, and Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing.

This significant development unfolded during December 2023, with Nazaha initiating both criminal and administrative proceedings following a meticulous process. The authority conducted an extensive 1,481 inspections and probed allegations against 207 individuals. Remarkably, some of the detained employees have been granted release on bail.
