In the current Umrah season, more than 2,764 facilities are offering health services in various cities and provinces of the Kingdom, according to the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.
Those facilities are part of an insurance program for umrah performers around the world.
In the Kingdom, there are 151 public and private hospitals, 773 health clinics, 1,840 pharmacies and medical laboratories available to pilgrims and visitors.
During their stay in Saudi Arabia to do Umrah and pray at the Prophet's Mosque, visitors and Umrah pilgrims can benefit from the insurance programme. As part of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, the ministry launched the initiative to enhance pilgrim care and enrich their religious and cultural experiences.
The insurance coverage will serve pilgrims from the moment they enter the Kingdom until they return after completing the rites. Medical and travel insurance are also available.
The ministry recently announced a series of facilities for pilgrims, including allowing Umrah pilgrimage for all types of visas, eliminating age limitations and procedural restrictions related to a mahram's presence for women, simplifying the movement of pilgrims between cities and regions of the Kingdom, and extending the Umrah visa term from 30 days to 90 days.
