In Saudi Arabia, the Transport Users Regulations outline specific rules and fines for taxi passengers. Learn about the fines for eating and smoking inside taxis and other important regulations that ensure a safe and pleasant journey for everyone.

The Transport Users Regulations in Saudi Arabia not only grant certain rights but also impose additional requirements on taxi passengers. To ensure a smooth and comfortable journey, passengers must adhere to several rules, including refraining from eating or smoking inside the vehicle. Failure to comply with these regulations can lead to a fine of 200 Saudi riyals.

Apart from the no-eating and no-smoking policy, passengers are also expected to avoid causing disturbances, damaging property, and repeatedly requesting changes in the destination during the trip. Treating everyone, including the driver, with respect is a fundamental requirement.

Passengers must also refrain from any intimidating or threatening behavior towards drivers or fellow travelers. Furthermore, after the journey is over, communication with the driver should only occur if the passenger needs to retrieve misplaced items.

The law includes various fines for revenue infractions and not paying the full fare for the trip. This includes the mentioned 200 riyal fine for eating or smoking inside the taxi.

Additionally, passengers are legally obligated to pay the full amount according to the meter reading or the agreed-upon fare, using any accessible payment method accepted by the carrier.

Passengers are required to display their identity cards to workers, inspectors of the carrier, or representatives of competent authorities overseeing the service.

To ensure safety and comfort, carrying extra luggage or items that cannot fit in the trunk is prohibited, as well as bringing any prohibited objects on board.

Passengers must adhere to any limitations set by the Authority on the minimum age required to use the taxi service. Furthermore, the passenger requesting the service and their companions are the only ones permitted inside the vehicle. For family taxis operated by women, it is mandatory to carry at least one other adult female passenger.

When booking a trip, passengers must disclose any special requests or circumstances, such as the need for a vehicle capable of accommodating large items or traveling with pets.
