Saudia, Saudi Arabia’s national carrier, is set to expand its fleet from 188 to 300 aircraft by 2032, as part of an ambitious strategy to double its network and support global events like Expo 2030 and the FIFA World Cup 2034.
Ambitious Fleet Expansion Plans
According to Ibrahim Al Omar, director general of Saudia Group, the airline aims to increase its fleet size to 300 aircraft by the end of 2032. This expansion reflects Saudia’s commitment to enhancing its global presence.
New Airbus Order and Delivery Timeline
In May, Saudia placed an order for 105 Airbus aircraft, with the first deliveries expected in early 2026. This significant order marks a key milestone in the airline’s expansion strategy.
Doubling Network and International Event Support
Saudia plans to double its network of destinations from 70 to over 140 within the next five years. This growth will be fueled by Saudi Arabia's hosting of major international events, such as Expo 2030 and the FIFA World Cup 2034.

The hosting of these global events is expected to drive increased demand for air travel, making Saudia’s expansion crucial for meeting future passenger needs.
Financing the Expansion
The expansion will be financed through bank loans, with a significant portion of the new aircraft being resold and leased back. Currently, leased aircraft account for 40% of Saudia’s fleet.

This financial strategy will allow Saudia to manage costs effectively while expanding its fleet.
Enhancing Passenger Experience
As part of its expansion, Saudia will initiate a program to replace 15,000 aircraft seats starting at the end of 2025, with completion expected by 2027. The airline also plans to introduce a premium economy class, offering larger and more comfortable seats.
