Saudi officials have successfully foiled two attempts to smuggle a large quantity of drugs, weighing a total of 106 kilograms, through the Al-Batha and Al-Haditha land border crossings. The operations were carried out in coordination with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control, resulting in the arrest of two individuals.
In the first attempt, officials seized 83.2 kilograms of methamphetamine hidden in pieces of marble stones from a vehicle at the Saudi-UAE land border crossing of Al-Batha. The second seizure was at the northern land crossing of Al-Haditha, where 23.8 kilograms of drugs were found hidden in the cavity of a truck’s spare tire. The arrested individuals were supposed to receive the drug consignment after smuggling it into the Kingdom.
The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority has urged all members of Saudi society to participate in the fight against smuggling by reporting any suspicious activities through their toll-free number 1910 or email: [email protected] or the international number: 00966114208417.
