In a significant move, the Council of Ministers, presided over by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, has officially designated March 27 as Saudi Green Initiative Day on an annual basis.
Furthermore, the Cabinet has entrusted the Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites with supervising the Project of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Center for Cosmic Sciences and Crescent Observations, alongside the Makkah Clock and both internal and external crescent observatories.
Minister of Media Salman Al-Dosary, in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency, highlighted the Cabinet's acknowledgment of the United Nations General Assembly's resolution on "Measures to Combat Islamophobia" and the appointment of a UN Special Envoy for the same purpose. The Cabinet reaffirmed Saudi Arabia's commitment to international efforts aimed at countering extremist ideologies and promoting peace and dialogue.
Moreover, the Cabinet commended the outcomes of the international conference organized by the Muslim World League (MWL) in Makkah, focusing on "Building Bridges between Islamic Schools of Thought and Sects." It expressed gratitude to scholars from across the Muslim world for recognizing the Kingdom's efforts in serving Islam and Muslims, particularly its stewardship of the Two Holy Mosques and the enhancement of Islamic solidarity.
Additionally, the Cabinet was briefed on communications received by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman from the president of Uzbekistan and the UN Secretary-General, discussing recent developments including the situation in Gaza.
The Council emphasized Saudi Arabia's steadfast support for charitable initiatives and highlighted the success of the Fourth National Campaign for Charitable Work, which reflects exemplary solidarity and generosity among benefactors.
Celebrating a significant economic milestone, the Cabinet noted that non-oil activities accounted for 50% of the country's real GDP in 2023, aligning with the objectives of Vision 2030 to diversify the economy and foster growth beyond oil.
Furthermore, the Cabinet approved agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) aimed at enhancing cooperation in various fields, including cultural exchange, tourism promotion, halal product quality assurance, and combating terrorism.
