The Saudi government is on a mission to transition to digital, time-saving services and make them easily accessible to the public. This week, a new set of services was launched through the Interior Minister's electronic platform Absher, marking a significant step forward in this digital transformation.

The newly introduced services on the Absher platform encompass various aspects, including:

1. Transfer of Car Ownership among Family Members: Simplifying the process for families to manage their vehicles efficiently.

2. Issuance of Car Driving Licenses from Showrooms: Making it more convenient for individuals to obtain their driving licenses.

3. Transfer of Motorcycle Ownership: Streamlining the ownership transfer process for motorcycles.

4. Issuance of Motorcycle Driving Licenses and Renewal of Upgraded Driving Licenses: Providing a one-stop solution for motorcycle-related documentation.

These services, unveiled by Chief of General Security Lt. Gen Mohammed Al Basami, are the result of a strategic partnership between security authorities, the Saudi Authority for Data and Artificial Intelligence (SDAIA), and the International Information Centre.

The journey towards a digital government in Saudi Arabia began with the introduction of the Absher app by the Interior Ministry in 2013. This app has been a game-changer, granting Saudi citizens and foreign residents access to a wide array of government services. Over the years, the scope of services offered has significantly expanded. People can now apply for jobs, renew passports, update residency cards, and obtain or renew driving licenses through this digital platform. The rapid transition to digital services gained momentum during the global pandemic, making access to these services even more critical.

In November, the Saudi Ministry of Justice introduced 11 new judicial e-services into Najiz, taking the total services available through the portal to over 150. These services include features like verifying attorney's law practice licenses, checking the validity of powers of attorney during litigation, and viewing attachments on Najiz.

Saudi Arabia, with a population of approximately 32.2 million people, is also home to a large community of migrant workers who stand to benefit from these digital advancements.

The digitalization of government services is not only a time-saver but also a significant step in making essential services easily accessible to all, improving efficiency, and enhancing the overall quality of life in the Kingdom. Saudi Arabia continues to lead the way in embracing digital solutions for the benefit of its citizens and residents.
