Saudi authorities have arrested 12 expatriate residents — five men and seven women — on charges of engaging in a prostitution ring inside a residential apartment in Najran, according to a report by Al Riyadh Arabic daily.
Coordinated Crackdown in Najran
The operation was carried out by the Special Tasks and Duties Force of Najran Police in coordination with the General Directorate of Community Security and the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit. All detainees were immediately taken into custody, and legal procedures have been initiated.
The Ministry of Interior stated that the case has been formally referred to the Public Prosecution for further investigation. The nationalities of the suspects have not been disclosed, nor were further details of the investigation shared publicly.
Saudi Arabia's Stance on Public Morality Violations
The arrests are part of a broader effort by Saudi authorities to combat public morality violations and strengthen their anti-human trafficking enforcement. Authorities are actively investigating whether any individuals were coerced or exploited.
Saudi Arabia enforces strict laws against prostitution and related criminal activities, especially when foreign nationals are involved. Law enforcement actions are often coordinated with agencies handling trafficking, exploitation, and public safety.
Ongoing Enforcement Measures
The Ministry emphasized its commitment to protecting the community and upholding Islamic values. It warned that such activities would be dealt with decisively and that more inspections would continue across the Kingdom to curb illegal practices.
