Saudi Arabia has bought five aircraft for the Regional Cloud Seeding Program, with four planes dedicated to cloud seeding and one equipped for weather and climate research. These state-of-the-art aircraft are equipped with advanced technologies to increase the efficiency of cloud seeding and reduce operating costs.
The purchase of cloud-seeding aircraft is part of Saudi Arabia's efforts to enhance water resources, develop vegetation, and benefit from renewable water sources. The program has completed its third phase, and its results show a success rate of over 97%.
The program aims to transfer localized knowledge and build domestic capacity in cloud seeding techniques. Saudi Arabia is now the second country in the world to own this type of research aircraft. The initiative is one of the achievements of the Middle East Green Initiative and is implemented by the National Center for Meteorology.
