Saudi Arabia Implements New Dress Code For Bus Drivers Enhancing Uniformity And Service Quality
Category: Saudi Arabia

In a groundbreaking move, the Transport General Authority (TGA) of Saudi Arabia has recently introduced a comprehensive uniform code for bus drivers engaged in specialized transport activities. The new regulations, effective from April 27, 2024, aim to standardize the appearance of drivers across various sectors, including bus rental, educational transport, and international passenger transport. This initiative is set to not only promote a consistent and professional image but also enhance the overall quality of service in this crucial sector that caters to residents, tourists, and visitors alike.

For women drivers, the official dress code permits the wearing of an abaya with boots or shoes, complemented by a black cap or head cover if desired. Meanwhile, the mandatory uniform for men consists of a long-sleeved blue shirt, black pants, a black belt, and black boots. The men's dress code also offers flexibility, allowing the option of wearing the national dress with boots or shoes, along with the choice of a Shemagh, Ghutra, or a black cap.

These uniform standards are applicable to licensed businesses involved in bus transportation for specified events and individuals authorized to transport students. Businesses have the option to design their own outfits with prior permission, offering choices such as long- or short-sleeved shirts, long pants, belts, boots, and caps matching the shirt color.

In a bid to accommodate varying weather conditions, drivers are permitted to wear jackets or coats over their uniforms, provided it does not impede their work. Driver ID cards, a mandatory requirement, must display the driver's name, picture, driver number, and the business's name and logo. For school transportation, only the driver's name and number are required, and the outfit should not obstruct any vital details on the driver's license.

This move by the Transport General Authority not only ensures a standardized and professional appearance but also emphasizes the importance of safety and accountability in the bus transportation sector.
