Saudi anti-drug police have successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle 236kg of cocaine hidden in a banana shipment, according to the kingdom's Interior Ministry. The operation, carried out by the General Directorate of Narcotics Control in collaboration with the Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority (Zatca), took place at King Abdullah Port in the Rabigh governorate, Mecca region.

Recent Major Drug Busts in Saudi Arabia
In late August, Saudi authorities thwarted an attempt to smuggle 349,710 Captagon pills hidden in tile-polishing equipment at the Jadidat Arar border crossing with Iraq. Four suspects were arrested.
In July, 14 individuals were arrested for drug smuggling and trafficking across various parts of the kingdom, while customs officers foiled a separate attempt to smuggle 3.6 million Captagon pills in Jeddah port.
In May, anti-drug police seized 4.7 million amphetamine tablets hidden in concrete blocks and arrested two foreign nationals connected to the operation.
