Over 16,899 people were arrested in Saudi Arabia in a week for violating residency, labour, and border security laws.
There were 11,033 arrests for violating residency rules, 3,493 for violating border security rules, and 2,373 for violating labour laws, according to the Ministry of Interior.
Further, 769 individuals attempted to illegally cross the Kingdom's borders were apprehended. Among them, 39 per cent were Yemenis, 58 per cent Ethiopians, and 3 per cent of other nationalities.
In addition, 80 violators were intercepted crossing the border as they tried to leave Saudi Arabia.
In addition, eleven individuals were arrested for transporting and harboring violators of residency and work regulations.
Currently, 52,369 individuals, including 5,938 women, are facing legal action.
46,743 violators have been referred to their respective diplomatic missions for travel documents, 1,716 for travel arrangements, and 9,147 for deportation.
Any individual who facilitates the entry of infiltrators into the Kingdom, provides transportation, shelter, or any other form of assistance may face up to 15 years in prison, a fine of up to SR1 million, and a confiscation of accommodations and transportation facilities, according to the Ministry of Interior.
