The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) has initiated a new phase of the Taif Road Development Project, introducing a major bridge and a series of road enhancements aimed at improving traffic flow and increasing the corridor’s capacity to approximately 200,000 vehicles per day.
311-Meter Bridge Planned at Taif Road and Taibah Street Intersection
As part of the latest development phase, RCRC will construct a bridge measuring 311 meters in length and 36 meters in width at the intersection of Taif Road and Taibah Street.
The project covers a 15-kilometer corridor extending from the Taif Road–Najd Street intersection in the west to the Western Ring Road in the east. The initiative is designed to improve transportation efficiency and accommodate Riyadh’s growing traffic demands.
Four Lanes in Each Direction
Upon completion, the upgraded Taif Road corridor will feature four main lanes in each direction, significantly increasing road capacity and improving traffic movement across the city.

Temporary Traffic Diversions Starting July 31
To minimize disruptions during construction, RCRC has developed a comprehensive traffic management plan in coordination with relevant authorities.
Under the plan, a temporary three-lane diversion in each direction will be implemented at the Taif Road–Taibah Street intersection beginning July 31.
The temporary arrangement is designed to maintain traffic movement and reduce congestion while construction activities continue.
Real-Time Traffic Updates Through Navigation Apps
RCRC is also providing real-time traffic information through digital platforms and navigation applications to help motorists navigate the affected areas efficiently.
Drivers will be able to:
- Monitor current traffic diversions
- Plan routes in advance
- Select alternative roads when necessary
- Avoid congested construction zones
- Manage travel times more effectively
