Major Drug Trafficking Bust: Saudi And 2 Expats Get 55 Years In Prison
Category: Crime News

A Saudi court has delivered a significant blow to drug trafficking, sentencing one Saudi citizen and two Arab nationals to a combined 55 years in prison. The convicted individuals, responsible for trafficking psychotropic substances, received varying prison terms, with one sentenced to 25 years and the others to 15 years each, as announced by the Public Prosecution.

In addition to the prison terms, the court imposed fines totaling SR300,000 on the convicts. It also ordered the confiscation of the smuggling means used in the crime and the deportation of the Arab nationals from the Kingdom following the completion of their jail terms and payment of fines.

The Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances wing at the Public Prosecution initiated legal action against the accused after concluding investigations into the gang's activities. The group was accused of importing and distributing psychotropic substances with the intent of promoting and trafficking.

Investigations revealed that the defendants imported large quantities of psychotropic amphetamine (Captagon), specifically 342,000 pills. The contraband was concealed within a shipment that arrived at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. The gang leader, an Arab national, strategically left the Kingdom upon the shipment's arrival, avoiding capture while assigning others to handle the receipt, distribution, and delivery of the shipment.

Security authorities closely monitored the entire operation, delaying the arrest of gang members until the leader's return to the Kingdom.

The Public Prosecution emphasized its unwavering commitment to combat all drug crimes, underscoring its determination to take stringent punitive measures against drug gangs without any leniency.
