Hajj Pilgrims With Chronic Illnesses Urged To Carry Medical Documents
Category: Saudi Arabia

Saudi authorities have urged prospective Hajj pilgrims who are suffering from chronic diseases to bring their medical documents while traveling to the kingdom.

Importance of Medical Documentation

The Saudi Ministry of Hajj stated that this procedure is necessary to ensure that pilgrims have access to medical treatment. In an announcement on the "X" platform, the ministry emphasized the need for medical documents for those requiring special medical treatment and using specific medicines or medical equipment.

Vaccination Requirements for Pilgrims

Overseas Pilgrims:
Overseas pilgrims are required to receive the Neisseria meningitidis vaccine before arrival, verified by a certificate from their home countries. Additionally, they must be vaccinated against:

. Polio
. COVID-19
. Seasonal flu

These measures are part of efforts to protect the health and safety of pilgrims during the annual congregation.

Domestic Pilgrims:
Domestic pilgrims are required to complete Hajj-related vaccinations, including inoculations against:

. COVID-19
. Seasonal influenza
. Meningitis

These vaccinations are available at primary healthcare centers. The Ministry of Hajj has mandated registration in the Health Ministry’s Sehaty app before the pilgrims’ arrival in Mecca.

Preparations and Arrival

The early groups of pilgrims have started arriving in Saudi Arabia from several countries in the run-up to Hajj, which is expected to commence this year on June 14, depending on the sighting of the new moon.
