In Riyadh, Saudi authorities have detained two foreign individuals for their involvement in the fabrication of residency permits, or iqamas, and driver's licenses intended for expatriates. The suspects, identified as Bangladeshi nationals, are believed to have traded in these counterfeit documents.

Law enforcement officials disclosed that the two individuals were apprehended while in possession of equipment used for producing the fraudulent documents. They had reportedly set up an illegal operation within a residential space in Riyadh.

Following their arrest, the suspects underwent legal procedures before being referred to the public prosecutor. No further information was provided by the police, and it remains unclear when the illicit operation began or the duration of the suspects' residence in Saudi Arabia.

The country hosts a significant population of migrant laborers. Earlier this month, Riyadh police arrested eight unauthorized foreign nationals, primarily from India, for engaging in fraudulent Umrah campaigns aimed at Muslims desiring to perform the minor pilgrimage in the holy city of Makkah. These individuals were in violation of Saudi residency and labor laws, and utilized four offices to promote their deceitful campaigns.

Umrah pilgrimages typically reach their peak during Ramadan. In response, Saudi Arabia has strengthened security measures at the entrances of Makkah to verify the legitimacy of permits allowing visitors to perform Umrah at the Grand Mosque, the holiest site in Islam, during the holy month. The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah previously stated that only one Umrah is allowed per person during Ramadan to accommodate the highest number of worshippers and alleviate overcrowding at the Grand Mosque.
