According to a Saudi labour official, Saudi Arabia and the Philippines are in talks about hiring domestic workers in the kingdom.
Saad Al Hamad, spokesman for the Saudi Ministry of Human Resources, said the ministry would also recruit workers from Asian and African countries.
A ministry official told Al Arabiya TV that the ministry is trying to diversify the countries that export domestic labor.
The Saudi government approved two agreements for hiring Thai workers in the kingdom last week, the latest indication of growing ties between the two nations.
Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz led a Cabinet meeting that approved the plan.
In general, the agreements relate to the employment of domestic workers. In an effort to build ties between the two countries, the Saudi Ministry of Human Resources and the Thai Ministry of Labour signed both pacts last March.
According to the Saudi Federation of Chambers, 200,000 Thai workers are expected to be hired annually in the kingdom.
For the first time in around 32 years, Saudi Arabia and Thailand have fully restored diplomatic relations between the two countries.
