The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) has announced the commencement of construction for Al-Urubah Park, marking a significant milestone in Riyadh's 'Green Riyadh' initiative.

The construction of Al-Urubah Park, a pivotal project within Riyadh's 'Green Riyadh' program, has officially begun. Spanning an impressive 754,000 square meters, this park is poised to become one of the city's largest green spaces. With over 600,000 trees and shrubs set to be planted, covering 65 percent of the park's area, it promises to be a lush oasis within the urban landscape.

Located at the strategic intersection of Prince Turki bin Abdulaziz Al-Awwal Road and Al-Urubah Road, accessibility is a key feature of the park, ensuring easy reach for residents from all corners of the city. The park aims to elevate the quality of life for both residents and visitors, offering recreational spaces and contributing to Riyadh's journey towards sustainability.

Designed to international standards, the park's layout was selected from submissions by six global competitors, ensuring sustainability and environmental compliance. Boasting a three-kilometer panoramic path elevated 12 meters above ground level, visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of the city's landmarks. Moreover, the integration of modern technologies such as augmented reality enhances the visitor experience, blending nature with innovation.

The park's design incorporates permanent bodies of water and utilizes the natural features of Laysen Valley, enhancing its aesthetic appeal and ecological value. A 14-kilometer walking trail, green terraces, open theaters, and sports facilities cater to a diverse range of age groups, promoting an active and inclusive environment.

Beyond Al-Urubah Park, the 'Green Riyadh' program encompasses various initiatives such as neighborhood gardens, tree planting in residential areas, and the development of green infrastructure throughout the city. By planting 7.5 million trees and increasing vegetation cover to 9 percent of the city's area, the program aligns with the goals of the Green Saudi Initiative and Vision 2030, aiming to enhance Riyadh's livability, mitigate climate impacts, and improve air quality.
