Ryyan Tarabzoni, the chief executive officer of Jeddah Airports Company, has been sacked, and Ayman Abo Abah has been named the new CEO of the airport.
The board replaced the CEO after the airport's performance during a peak season, including Eid holiday and Umrah season, was not up to par.
On Saturday, the board held an exceptional meeting to discuss the emerging challenges at the airport over the last few days and the needed solutions, according to a statement.
Saleh Al-Jasser, the Saudi minister of transport, ordered an urgent investigation into the chaotic scene at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah on Thursday.
The board wished Abo Abah all the best in his new role. During his 28 years of work experience, Abo Abah held many leadership positions, including deputy vice president of operations for Riyadh Airports Company.
