Riyadh police arrested 21 individuals accused of impersonating security officials and committing a series of thefts targeting pedestrians and residential homes, authorities said.
Details of the Arrest
The suspects 18 Yemeni nationals and three Saudi citizens were apprehended by the Criminal Investigation and Research Department in the Riyadh region, following reports of suspicious activity involving unmarked vehicles outfitted with security-like features.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Interior, the gang used vehicles equipped with fake security modifications to deceive and intimidate victims.
Gang Hideout Raided
Disguised as law enforcement officers, they allegedly carried out street robberies and broke into homes, exploiting the trust and fear associated with official appearances.
A video released by the Ministry captured scenes from the operation, showing officers intercepting a suspect’s vehicle in transit and moving swiftly to arrest those inside.
Footage also showed law enforcement raiding what appeared to be the group’s hideout or a makeshift warehouse where a stash of stolen items was recovered.
Legal Action Underway
The suspects are currently in custody, and formal legal procedures have been initiated. All 21 individuals have been referred to the Public Prosecution for further investigation.
