The statute governing the activity of the family taxi service stipulates a fine of SR5,000 for providing the family transport service without the presence of an adult female in the vehicle.
The regulation also stipulates that a non-Saudi woman driver carrying passengers will be fined SR5,000.
The punishments also include a SR500 fine for operating a vehicle in a city other than the place where the license has been issued, SR3,000 for using the vehicle for other than the purpose for which the license is issued. If a male escort or child is accommodated in the front seat SR2000 is the fine while SR 5,000 is imposed for taking men or children only as passengers.
The Public Transport Authority also specified three conditions for the drivers of family taxi service. They include the driver to be a Saudi woman carrying a first class public driving license, not to suffer from any infectious disease, not a drug abuser, and should not have any criminal records.
The statute also stipulated that the vehicle should be at least seven seated and have good air-conditioning, in addition to be fitted with a tracking device, a display screen, and an electronic point-of-sale machine.
