A recent introduction in Saudi Arabia, Category 1 imposes a traffic penalty ranging from SR 20,000 to SR 60,000 on offenders, accompanied by the addition of 24 traffic violation points to their record. This category addresses serious traffic violations. 

• SR 20,000 fine for drifting for the first time.
• SR 40,000 fine for drifting for the second time.
• SR 60,000 fine for drifting for the third time.

Category 2: Fines ranging from SR 5,000 to SR 10,000

These actions are considered offenses:

• Driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, resulting in 24 traffic violation points on the record.
• Crossing or passing through a valley during a flood.
• Failing to keep domestic animals away from the roadside.
• Conducting road works without notifying the relevant authorities.
• Changing or disguising the chassis number of a car or vehicle.

Category 3: Fines ranging from SR 3,000 to SR 6,000

This category encompasses updated fines for the following traffic violations:

• Continuing to drive when the red traffic light is illuminated.
• Failing to come to a complete stop at a red light.
• Engaging in vehicle races on public roads.
• Installing equipment and lights resembling those used in official and emergency vehicles.
• Illegally overtaking a stopped school bus during student pickups or drop-offs, resulting in 4 traffic violation points.
• Heavy-duty trucks not adhering to the designated right lane.
• Bypassing the truck weighing station.
• Driving against the flow of traffic, accumulating 12 traffic violation points.
• Using unauthorized devices in vehicles.
• Manipulating or altering traffic signs.
• Displaying inappropriate logos or posters.

Category 4: Fines ranging from SR 1,000 to SR 2,000

This category includes: 

• Exceeding the car's passenger limits.
• Overtaking on curves or uphill sections.
• Leaving your vehicle unattended on public roads.
• Pedestrians crossing roads inappropriately.
• Riding a motorcycle without a helmet: Results in 2 traffic violation points.
• Not giving way to ambulances.
• Ignoring lane markings or misusing the yellow lane/shoulder.
• Stopping or standing on railway tracks: Results in 6 traffic violation points.
• Failing to provide Istimara and Iqama documents upon request.
