In a groundbreaking initiative, Saudi Arabia is set to repurpose decommissioned aircraft into vibrant culinary and theatrical venues, marking a new era in the country's entertainment industry. Head of the Saudi General Entertainment Authority (GEA), Turki Alalsheikh, revealed the collaboration with national carrier Saudi Airlines to convert Boeing planes into restaurants, cafes, and musical theaters within the innovative Boulevard Runway zone as part of the Riyadh calendar.

Alalsheikh highlighted the uniqueness of the project, emphasizing that the agreement involves utilizing five retired planes for a one-of-a-kind experience. This venture aligns with Saudi Arabia's broader efforts to diversify its oil-reliant economy by fostering a thriving entertainment sector.

The Riyadh Season, a flagship annual event launched in 2019, plays a pivotal role in transforming the city into a global entertainment and tourist destination. The current edition, unveiled on October 28, boasts spectacular shows, including headline events like the "battle of the baddest" featuring Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou.

The Boulevard World zone, a prominent feature of this year's festival, introduces enhanced entertainment experiences with a space increase of over 40 percent. Spread across 12 venues in Riyadh, the Season offers a diverse array of entertainment, fashion, electronic games, fine arts, handicrafts, cuisine, and thematic zones.

New additions include the state-of-the-art Boulevard Hall, covering 200,000 square meters and accommodating up to 40,000 visitors simultaneously. The "Wonder Garden," a super entertainment city featuring 70 different games and global gardens, adds to the enchantment of this year's festivities.
