The Ministry of the Interior in Saudi Arabia has reported the apprehension of 14,955 individuals within a week for various violations related to residency, employment, and border security laws. This swift action follows coordinated field operations aimed at upholding the Kingdom's regulations.
During the nationwide campaigns conducted from February 22, 2024, to February 28, 2024, the Ministry outlined the following key outcomes:
Categories of Violations: Of the total arrests, 9,080 individuals violated residency laws, 3,088 breached border security laws, and 2,787 contravened labor laws.
Border Security Enforcement: A significant portion of those apprehended (849 individuals) attempted to cross the Kingdom's borders illegally, with a notable percentage comprising Ethiopians and Yemenis. Additionally, 99 individuals were detained for unauthorized border crossings outside Saudi Arabia.
Enforcement Measures: Six individuals involved in facilitating, transporting, or sheltering violators were also arrested.
Regulatory Processes: The number of expatriates undergoing regulatory procedures has risen to 57,787, with the majority being men. Efforts included assisting expatriates in obtaining travel documents and arranging their return to their home countries.
Penalties for Aiding Violators: The Ministry emphasized severe penalties for individuals aiding border security law violators, including hefty fines, lengthy prison sentences, and asset seizures.
The Ministry urged the public to report any violations, emphasizing the seriousness of these crimes and their detrimental impact on national security and trust.
