Saudi Arabia has started using smart helmets with thermal radiation to scan the near by individuals in order to identify people with high body temperatures in public areas.

The Eastern region Municipality has already implemented the use of these helmets to stop the spread of corona virus in public places and shopping malls.

These smart helmets with thermal radiation can scan the temperatures up to 5 meters away and can scan up to 200 people per minute and give an alert if someone has a fever said the mayor of the Eastern province of Saudi Arabia, Fahad bin Mohammed Al-Jubeir.

- The number of the municipality's employees have been trained to operate these smart helmets in several commercial sites and markets to provide the highest levels of prevention and health safety, he added.

- In case, If a person found with high body temperature, the necessary measures would be taken and the health authorities would be informed.

- Al Jubeir highlighted that the Eastern region municipality is keen to employ all available expertise and high tech devices as part of its preventive measures in order to stop the spread of Covid-19.
