In a significant move towards strengthening Arab unity, Saudi Arabia has announced the resumption of its diplomatic mission in Syria after more than a decade-long hiatus. The decision was based on the bonds of brotherhood between the two nations and aimed to serve the interests of joint Arab action, as well as to promote security and stability in the region.

According to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the decision to resume diplomatic ties was also in line with the decision taken by the Arab Foreign Ministers at their meeting in Cairo on May 7, which allowed for the participation of Syrian delegations in the meetings of the Arab League Council and its affiliated organizations and organs.

The resumption of diplomatic ties between Saudi Arabia and Syria came after both nations agreed on March 23 to reopen their embassies and resume diplomatic relations. The move follows the landmark agreement to re-establish ties between Saudi Arabia and Iran, which has helped to ease tensions in the region.
