Last month, Saudi Arabia registered 1,100 cases of illegal passenger transport at airports, according to the kingdom's transport authorities.
The violations were identified during extensive inspection campaigns by the Transport General Authority (TGA) in cooperation with the Interior Ministry and other relevant agencies in the kingdom.
The TGA stated that these campaigns aim to curb unlicensed practices, enhance service quality for passengers, and encourage travelers to use licensed transporters for a safe and reliable travel experience.
Unlicensed passenger transport at Saudi airports is punishable by fines of up to SR5,000 and impounding the violating vehicle.
The TGA emphasized the importance of transporters complying with regulations and vowed to continue inspection campaigns to detect violators.
In support of this effort, the TGA launched the "Don't Ride with the Non-Licensed" campaign to raise awareness about the importance of using licensed transporters and promoting safe transportation options to and from Saudi Arabia’s airports.
Other Saudi government agencies involved in the campaign include the Interior Ministry, Public Prosecution, the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), and MATARAT Holding Company.
To encourage compliance, the TGA urged unlicensed carriers to affiliate with authorized companies. In March, the authority announced incentives and support programs for compliant transporters to provide secure and reliable transportation services.
