Weeklong Crackdown on Legal Violations
The Ministry of Interior announced that 18,489 individuals were detained across Saudi Arabia during a coordinated campaign conducted from November 28 to December 4. The joint operations involved security forces and various government agencies.
Arrest Breakdown by Violation Type
- Residency Law Violations: 10,824 individuals
- Border Security Offenders: 4,638 individuals
- Labour Regulation Violations: 3,027 individuals
Illegal Border Crossings
Authorities detained 1,125 people attempting to cross into Saudi Arabia unlawfully:
- 42% were Yemeni nationals
- 56% were Ethiopians
- 2% were from other nationalities
Additionally, 57 individuals were apprehended while attempting to leave the Kingdom illegally.
Actions Against Facilitators of Illegal Activities
Saudi authorities also intensified operations against individuals aiding or employing violators, detaining 31 people for providing transportation, shelter, or jobs to illegal residents.
Legal Proceedings and Deportations
The Ministry of Interior reported that 25,484 expatriates, including 22,604 men and 2,880 women, are undergoing legal procedures:
- 17,981 violators have been referred to diplomatic missions for travel documentation.
- 2,427 individuals are in the process of arranging departures.
- 9,529 individuals have been deported.
Penalties for Facilitators
The ministry warned against facilitating illegal activities, highlighting severe penalties:
- Up to 15 years of imprisonment
- Fines up to SR1 million
- Confiscation of vehicles or properties used in crimes
