The Board of Directors of Okaz Organization for Press and Publication met on Saturday and discussed the performance of the organization for the period ending July 31. Efforts to confront the challenges facing the print media and ways and means to upgrade the performance also came up for discussion.
The meeting also discussed the forthcoming conclave at the headquarters of the organization that will be attended by leaders of Okaz's main and branch offices, members of the board of directors and general assembly members.
Sunday's meeting tackled the grave situation of cash liquidity in the organization resulting from its inability to collect its arrears from government and commercial parties. This has adversely affected the organization's ability to settle its financial commitments.
The board said this was also reflected on the inability of the organization to pay salaries to the staff on time which will, in turn, causes undue hindrance for the organization to deliver its message properly.
The board also discussed the extra urgent measures it has taken to curb spending in all its sectors in addition to practical measures it has taken to collect the organization's arrears from the government and the commercial bodies so as to be able to go ahead with its future plans.
The board reviewed the measures adopted by the editor-in-chief of Okaz newspaper to make full commercial use of the organization's information center which contains rare, valuable and exclusive materials.
This is besides, his innovative strategy to continue the supremacy of the newspaper — both the print and digital forms — and also on the social media.
The board discussed the development of the Lamasat (Touches) Company which is organizing events and conferences and the entry of specialized strategic partners which will promote the company's performance and future plans.
The board directed that organization's all sectors (except the printing press) should shift to an alternative building within a maximum period not exceeding three months.
The meeting was attended by Walid Bin Mahfouz, Dr. Tariq Fadqa, Dr. Ahmed Al-Youssef, Hussain Shobokshi, Dr. Walid Arab Hashem, Hamad Al-Qadi in addition to the Director General Walid Qattan, Editor-in-Chief of Okaz newspaper Jameel Altheyabi and Secretary of the board Ahmed Bin Sulaiman Al-Battah.
