The Riyadh authorities have so far issued 1,200 e-tourism visas for foreign visitors to enter Saudi Arabia via King Fahd Causeway from Bahrain.
Causeway Passports director Colonel Dhowaihi Al Sahli unveiled the new statistics which concern the period since the new e-tourism visa came into force about a month ago.
Colonel Al Sahli said that visitors from China and Britain topped the lists of candidates who applied for a tourist visa online as per the new regulations.
He said the Eastern Province general directorate of passports has provided the required equipment and staff to ensure the speedy issues of e-tourism visas.
He also revealed that 183 Saudi women work on the King Fahd Causeway, which accounts for 30 percent of the overall number of the causeway.
Meanwhile, King Fahd Causeway Authority Chief Executive Officer Emad Al Muhaisan said the 25-kilometer artery linking Saudi and Bahrain is the most active in the region in terms of traffic and the sixth in the world.
