Authorities Crack Down on Unlicensed Food Facility in Al Waha
Authorities in Jeddah have shut down an illegal samosa factory operating in unsanitary conditions in the Al Waha neighborhood of Umm Al Salam Municipality. The facility was producing samosa sheets and other Ramadan delicacies without the required health permits.
A joint inspection campaign led to the immediate closure of the site and the confiscation of over 2.7 tonnes of unsafe food products.
Inspectors uncovered major hygiene violations, including:
- Workers without health certifications
- Accumulated waste and contaminated tools
- Improper food storage directly on the floor
- Exposed sewage drains and lack of insect control measures
2.7 Tonnes of Contaminated Food Seized and Destroyed
Municipal officials reported the destruction of:
- 1,750 kilos of dough
- 1,000 kilos of prepackaged samosa sheets ready for distribution
The site was shut down in coordination with the "Ejada" team, with legal action pending against those responsible.

With Ramadan approaching, authorities are intensifying food safety inspections to protect public health and ensure compliance with health regulations.
