Category: Saudi Arabia

On the occasion of the celebration of the International Day of the Elderly, the Human Rights Commission clarified 7 rights for elderly patients in Saudi Arabia.

The Human Rights authority, through its Twitter account, published an infographic, in which it indicated that the rights of elderly patients in the Kingdom include:

1- The designs of health facilities must be sensitive and friendly to the elderly, especially entrances and corridors.

2- Providing preventive, curative and rehabilitative health services commensurate with their health needs.

3- Giving them priority when providing health services from entering the health facility until they leave it.

4- Provision of devices such as a wheelchair, tripod crutch, glasses and medical stethoscopes at home.

5- Providing psychological and social counseling services to them and those who take care of them at home through specialized teams.

6- Providing medical care at home for those unable to reach health facilities.

7- Training them and those who care for them at home on the basics of daily home health care. It is reported that the world celebrates on October 1 of each year, the International Day of the Elderly, which is one of the United Nations holidays and an international annual event.
