The General Directorate of Passports (Saudi Jawazat) has outlined how residents outside Saudi Arabia can renew their exit and re-entry visas using the Absher and Muqeem platforms. This online service enables electronic extensions for domestic workers and family dependents currently abroad after paying the required fees through SADAD.

1. Official Jawazat Clarification

In a recent post on its official X (Twitter) account, Jawazat confirmed that exit and re-entry visas for residents abroad can be extended electronically, as long as the person remains registered under the sponsor’s record.

When asked, “Can the exit and re-entry visa be extended after it expires?” Jawazat replied that the extension is possible electronically if the sponsorship record is still active. 

2. Payment and Platforms

The renewal process requires paying the necessary fees through the SADAD system before submission. Employers or sponsors can use either Absher or Muqeem platforms to complete the extension request.

3. How to Renew Exit and Re-Entry Visa for Domestic Workers

1. Log in to the Absher platform.
2. Select Labor Services.
3. Go to Services and choose Visas.
4. Click Renew Exit/Re-Entry Visa and follow the on-screen steps.

4. How to Renew Exit and Re-Entry Visa for Family Members

1. Log in to the Absher platform.
2. Select Family Member Services.
3. Click Services → Visas.
4. Choose the dependent, select renewal duration, and confirm payment.

5. Visa Duration and Validity

Jawazat explained that if the visa duration is expressed in months (e.g., 60, 90, or 120 days), it remains valid for travel for three months from the date of issuance. The visa period officially starts on the date of travel.

If the duration is stated in days or includes “return before” a specific date, it is counted from the date of issuance.

6. Issuing Long-Term Exit and Re-Entry Visas

Residents can be granted an exit and re-entry visa for more than one year, provided that the resident ID (Iqama) remains valid for the entire requested period. Employers can complete the process after paying the required fees via Absher or Muqeem.

7. Exit and Re-Entry Visa Extension Fees

• SAR 100 – for a single-entry visa.

• SAR 200 – for a multiple-entry visa.

All payments must be made through SADAD before applying. The resident’s Iqama must have at least 90 days of validity remaining.

8. Paying Renewal Fees via SADAD

Before submitting an extension request, ensure payment is made using SADAD, Saudi Arabia’s secure government payment system. The sponsor or employer can process this through Absher or Muqeem.

9. Important Notes

• Refunds are not available for cancelled visas.

• If the visa expires while abroad, renew the Iqama before applying for a new visa.

• Cancellation requests can also be made via Absher.
