Health authorities closed down a private hospital in northern Jeddah for serious violations on Thursday. Huge amounts of fine were also imposed on the hospital management.
The penal measures were taken after a committee observed the violations such as the hospital running on an invalid permit, its doctors and technicians practicing their professions without the required licenses, posing a threat to the safety and lives of unsuspecting patients.
A health ministry source in Jeddah said the ministry has launched a campaign to inspect all health facilities including private hospitals, medical complexes, pharmacies, optical, dental clinics, physical therapy centers and labor medical check-up clinics to ensure that the medical staff, technicians and anyone practicing related professions and their establishments have valid permits and licenses.
The inspectors also ensure that the health facilities strictly follow the regulations governing infection control and sterilization procedures, and that the materials used at dental clinics are fully sterilized.
