Local media reports that 6,310 people have been arrested for performing Hajj without a permit in Saudi Arabia.
Punitive measures are being taken against the violators, according to Lt. Gen. Mohammad Al Bassami, director of Public Security.
A total of 84 bogus Hajj campaigns have also been found in raids conducted throughout the Kingdom. Public Prosecutor's Office was notified of these campaigns and the perpetrators were arrested.
The authorities turned away 72,503 cars transporting unauthorised people into Mecca and the holy sites as of Monday, July 11. According to Al Bassami, 27 people were detained for carrying pilgrims without valid Hajj permits and sent to temporary administrative panels for legal action.
According to him, the Hajj security forces have handled the security arrangements for Hajj season efficiently and expertly.
A number of violators have been issued 27 administrative decisions by the seasonal administrative committees under Jawazat at the entrances to Mecca for transporting unauthorised persons to perform Hajj.
Deportation of violators and confiscation of vehicles used in transportation were among the court's decisions, along with imprisonment, fines, naming and shaming, and imprisonment.
