Hajj Pilgrims: Important Guidelines And Conditions For Arrival In Saudi Arabia
Category: Saudi Arabia

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has released a comprehensive set of guidelines for Hajj pilgrims, outlining the conditions they must meet both before and upon arrival in Saudi Arabia. These guidelines are essential for a seamless travel experience and to facilitate the pilgrims' smooth entry into the country.

Before their departure, pilgrims are reminded of the importance of carrying all necessary official documents with them to complete the required travel procedures at the airport. Additionally, it is advised to keep any electronic devices in their checked baggage rather than carrying them on board the flights.

To ensure the acceptance of their shipped luggage, pilgrims should ensure that each piece of luggage complies with the approved size limitations. They are also encouraged to mark their luggage with distinctive identifying marks for easy recognition.

When traveling by air, certain items are prohibited, including plastic bags, water bottles, liquid materials, and unwrapped or untied baggage. Furthermore, boxes covered with fabric are also not permitted.

Upon arrival in Saudi Arabia, pilgrims are required to declare any cash or valuable items in their possession if their value exceeds SR60,000. This includes foreign currencies, gifts, devices, jewelry, and precious metals. It is important to comply with this requirement to avoid any complications.

When entering or leaving Saudi Arabia, all pilgrims must fill out a customs declaration if they are carrying local or foreign currencies, or if the value of their items exceeds SR60,000. The customs declaration is also mandatory for passengers carrying commercial quantities of goods valued above SR3,000, as well as for those transporting items prohibited from import or export, such as antiquities. Additionally, individuals carrying goods subject to excise tax must also complete the declaration.

Failure to sign and fill out the customs declaration can result in accountability and potential legal consequences, as warned by the ministry.
