Al-Ghawar Women’s Driving Center in Al-Ahsa governorate has started registration for female applicants on via website www.alghawardc.com.
Director General of Al-Ghawar Center Muna Al-Arfaj has stressed that female applicants have to register online. The conditions include the minimum age of 18 years, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said.
Al-Arfaj said that the center would communicate with the female applicants via SMS, giving each female applicant the date and time for her training, in line with the priorities, waiting lists and capacity of the center.
She added that the center and the training yard in Al-Ahsa became a reality through the Patriotism Initiative launched by Saudi Aramco and supervised by the Traffic Department. She further said that the center is now ready to receive female trainees. Saudi female trainers have been appointed and several cars have been prepared for the purpose of training, she said.
In addition, the center makes use of several of the latest simulators to enable female trainees to get the feel of driving on the road including facing the hazards and situations on the road.
Al-Arfaj said that training is in two sessions: 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 3 to 11 p.m.
The main steps in the training path include 8 hours of theory lectures, clearing theory test, 2 hours simulator training, practical training stage 1 and 2 (6 hours), practical training stage 3, 4 and 5 (14 hours) and clear road test (16 main skills of driving).
An applicant has to clear the road test to get a driving license.
