The Health Affairs in Taif has opened an investigation with King Faisal Medical Complex over the death of an infant because of an alleged medical negligence. The official spokesman of the Health Affairs in Taif, Abdul Hadi Al-Rabeeie, said a special committee of consultants from different hospitals began examining the medical procedures taken with the infant. The health affairs is currently investigating the death of the two-month-old infant.
Al-Rabeeie pointed out that the committee is currently questioning the medical team involved in the infant's treatment. The infant was born with a stomach problem and he was forced to undergo an immediate surgery. He was scheduled to undergo another surgery a few days later, but his condition worsened and was admitted to intensive care unit where he died. The Health Affairs is currently conducting its own investigation to see if the procedures were followed properly and there was no medical negligence involved.
The mother of the infant told Okaz/Saudi Gazette that her infant was in good condition when they went to the hospital for a routine checkup. The doctor who was examining the infant gave him some injections. His condition began to deteriorate and the doctor said that her infant suffered from cold. His condition began to worsen even more and he was admitted to ICU where he died.
